SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds have set the date and booked keynote speaker, ESPN's Tim Kurkjian, for the team's 18th Annual Hot Stove Banquet, which will be held at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, Md. on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
Headlining the event is Tim Kurkjian, a Major League Baseball analyst on ESPN's Baseball Tonight, SportsCenter, and ESPN Radio. Kurkjian joined ESPN in March 1998 and continues to provide insight and analysis on Major League Baseball through his writing and regular appearances on ESPN. He has authored three books including America's Game and Is This a Great Game, or What? From A-Rod's Heart to Zim's Head-My 25 Years in Baseball. The latest, I'm Fascinated by Sacrifice Flies: Inside the Game We All Love came out in 2016. Kurkjian began covering baseball as the Texas Rangers beat writer for the Dallas Morning News where he worked from 1981-1985. Kurkjian then covered the Baltimore Orioles for the Baltimore Sun beginning in 1986 before moving on to Sports Illustrated, where he was a senior writer from 1989-1997.
Also speaking at this year's Hot Stove Banquet is Pat Filippone, President of 7th Inning Stretch LP, the group that owns the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Stockton Ports of the California League, and the Everett Aquasox of the Northwest League. Filippone will speak on the ownership group and ongoing upgrades to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Chris Bitters, General Manager of your Delmarva Shorebirds, will touch on the upcoming season and what the organization has in store for Shorebirds fans in 2019.

It'll be a great night of fun, food, and fellowship while putting Shorebirds baseball back in the minds of the great community of Delmarva," said Bitters.
Tickets to the event can be purchased for preferred tables of eight for $400 dollars or on an individual basis for $50 each. All tickets must be purchased in advance, and availability is limited. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the program beginning at 7 p.m.
Attendees will also have the chance to participate in a silent auction and raffle of sports memorabilia to benefit the Shorebirds Fly Together Fund. A portion of the proceeds will also go to support the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. Numerous items from professional and minor league franchises including the Baltimore Orioles will be up for grabs.
