Doubledays Continue #52forU Initiative at the 2018 Hot Stove Dinner
Proceeds From Event to Benefit Local Elementary Schools and Food Pantries
For Immediate Release:
The Auburn Doubledays are pleased to announce an extension of their #52forU community initiative program for the Hot Stove Dinner. A portion of the proceeds from their newly resurrected event will benefit some causes that have a special place for the Doubledays management team. The Doubledays will be donating to five local food pantries in Auburn, NY. Cayuga Seneca Community Action Agency, First Love Food Pantry, Calvary Food Pantry, St. Alphonsus, and Salvation Army will all benefit from the nights festivities and auctions.
"We are grateful to the Auburn Doubledays for donating a portion of their proceeds from their Hot Stove Dinner fundraiser to our food pantry." said Laurie Piccolo, Executive Director of the Cayuga Seneca Community Action Agency. "Many of the customers we serve struggle daily to meet basic needs. The Doubledays kind gesture will ensure that emergency food is available to help individuals and families most in need over the coming months."
The Doubledays will also buy school supplies for each of the five elementary schools in Auburn. Casey Park, Owasco, Seward, Genesee, and Herman will all receive school supplies that Abner will deliver after the event. The Doubledays will work with each school to get supplies that are needed in each location, and are working to secure a match from local companies.
"We are deeply honored and extremely grateful that the Auburn Doubledays are choosing a portion of the event's proceeds by buying much needed school supplies for our elementary schools," Auburn Enlarged City School District Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo said. "Our children will be so excited when Abner shows up to deliver the supplies."
"We want to grow in many areas, and one of the most important ones for us is in the community." said Adam Winslow, General Manager of the Doubledays. "We want to take on these projects all year long, and at the Hot Stove Dinner, because it is the right thing to do. We have an opportunity to make a positive impact in our community as the only professional sports franchise in Cayuga County, and we should take full advantage of the platform we have here."
If you would like to be a part of the event or make a donation to increase the ability the Doubledays have to help, please call the office at 315-255-2489. All donations will benefit the food pantries and elementary schools in Auburn, and will springboard the in-stadium #52forU program during the season, that will benefit all county food pantries and elementary schools. The Doubledays look forward to seeing you at the Hot Stove Dinner on Friday, January 26th from 6-9PM at the Hilton Garden Inn in beautiful Auburn, New York.
