Doubledays fall to the Muckdogs

BATAVIA, NY - The Doubledays (1-1, 1-1) dropped their first game of the season 10-2 in the home opener for the Batavia Muckdogs (1-1, 1-1) at Dwyer Stadium.

The Muckdogs scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth when Javier Lopez smacked a triple to right field that scored Avery Romero and Blake Barber. Batavia's lead didn't last long as the Doubledays answered with two runs of their own in the top of the fifth. Austin Chubb clubbed a double that scored Isaac Ballou and Chubb later scored on a ground out. 

The Muckdogs biggest inning was the seventh when Batavia plated five runs. Connor Burke led the inning off with a triple and the next batter, Yefri Perez, drove him in with a single. Barber capped off his big night with a two-run homerun later in the inning.

Wilmer Difo led Auburn at the plate going 2-3 with two singles and two walks. Austin Dicharry (0-1) picked up the loss for the Doubledays. 

The Doubledays return to Falcon Park to finish the three game series tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 7:05 with southpaw Robert Orlan taking to the mound for the Doubledays.
