DOUBLEDAYS FRONT OFFICE ADDS "LOCAL BATS TO LINEUP"
Collier, Truman to bring different local flavors to franchise
Auburn, NY - The Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League, Single-A Short-Season affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce the hiring of Andrew Collier & Shane Truman to the front office staff as Assistant General Managers.
Originally from Auburn, NY, Collier has 18 years of sports experience and is currently working with two companies that provide interactive sports based programming to viewers' mobile devices while substitute teaching at local schools in the area.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to work with the Doubledays' once again", Collier says. "I grew up at the ballpark and it's been a big part of my life. I'm motivated to keeping baseball in Cayuga County for generations to come and look forward to working with Adam and the community."
Collier received a Master's in Sports Management from SUNY Cortland and earned his Bachelor's in Communications & Broadcasting from SUNY Brockport. Some of Collier's past experiences include several seasons with the Auburn Doubledays, along with work stints with Syracuse University and National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum in Cooperstown, NY.
Originally from Big Flats, NY, Truman has resided in Cayuga County for over eight years, most recently worked for Chapel House in Auburn, NY; where his responsibilities include significant customer service, strategic planning, and management leadership. Shane is currently enrolled in the Leadership Cayuga program.
"I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to share my passion for the game I love with the community that my family and I reside in", Truman states. "Even though I will be sad to leave Chapel House, I am very excited to help grow our community in a different aspect while delivering a true valued experience to enjoy together."
Truman received a Bachelors in Psychology & Education from Wells College in Aurora, NY and his AAS degree in Liberal Arts from Cayuga Community College. His work experience also includes three seasons with the Auburn Doubledays, Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency, Dick's Sporting Goods & Buffalo Wild Wings.
"The combination of the strengths of these two gentlemen is sure to help us achieve our goals of improved attendance and community participation", said City Manager Jeff Dygert. "They have some great ideas on engaging the community and attracting the next generation of Doubledays' fans while entertaining those fans who support us currently."
"Shane & Andrew will be great assets to the Auburn Doubledays organization," said General Manager Adam Winslow. "Both bring minor league baseball experience, different aspects of knowledge from outside the sports industry and a tremendous amount of community pride & passion that is needed for this franchise to successfully grow."
The Doubledays will open the 2017 season at the Batavia Muckdogs on Friday, June 19th and start the season on their home field vs. the Muckdogs on June 20th at Leo Pinckney Field @ Falcon Park.
