Staten Island Defeat Doubledays 7-4 In Finale

AUBURN, NY -- The Doubledays dropped game three of the series to Staten Island 7-4, get swept by the Yankees.

The Yankees (15-12) scored four runs in the first three innings and took a 4-0 over the Doubledays (9-18) going into the sixth inning. The Doubledays cut the lead to 4-3 when Andruth Ramirez reached on a fielding error that allowed three runs to score. 

Staten Island added to their lead in the eighth when Bubba Jones smashed a three-run homerun to make it a 7-3 Yankees lead. Jones had a big night for Staten Island going 3-5 with a double and three-run homerun.

Doubledays infielder Cody Gunter was big tonight at the plate going 2-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored. This marks the third multi hit game this season for the Texas native.

The Doubledays hit the road for a season long six game road trip. After an off day on Tuesday, the Doubledays will play a three game series against the Tri-City ValleyCats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
