Woodbridge, Va. - The Down East Wood Ducks committed two costly errors in a three-run second inning, while Kyle Johnston was outstanding for the P-Nats on the mound, as the Woodies are shut out for just the second time this season, falling, 4-0, to the Nationals.

The Woodies (29-12) were limited to just two hits and five baserunners on the night, and suffer just their third road loss of the year, settling for a split in the four game series.
Jason Bahr (loss, 2-1) was sensational his first time through the order. He went nine up and nine down against Potomac (15-23), including four strikeouts. However Potomac got to him in the fourth. Gage Canning reached on an error by Yonny Hernandez at second base to begin the inning, and Cole Freeman followed with a bunt single. Aldrem Corredor then singled to left, and Eric Jenkins overran the ball, allowing two runs to come across, on the second error of the frame. One batter later KJ Harrison ripped a double to the gap in left-center, putting the P-Nats ahead 3-0.
Bahr went five innings, giving up three runs (one earned), on four hits, he walked one, and struck out six.
Meanwhile, Johnston (win, 4-4) was even more impressive for the Nationals. He worked seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a walk, while striking out seven.
The P-Nats picked up a big insurance run in the eighth. Freeman led off with a triple off the wall in left, and Corredor followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.
The Woodies had few chances to score all night. They never got a runner past second base, and the only runner that made it to second was Diosbel Arias , who doubled with one out in the fourth.
The Wood Ducks return home Friday night to face the Winston-Salem Dash at 7 p.m. It's Mother Earth Friday at Grainger Stadium, with postgame fireworks following the action presented by WNCT.
