KINSTON, NC - The Wood Ducks (9-15, 44-50) could not solve Myrtle Beach's (10-13, 44-49) arms in a 4-1 defeat on Saturday night. They were shut down in 1-2-3 fashion in six of nine innings and could only managed three hits in the loss.

Jason Bahr's debut as a member of the Rangers organization got off to a great start. The right-hander retired the first nine batters of the game in order.
He even received a first inning run from LeDarious Clark scoring on Yanio Perez's double play. The run was the second straight game the Woodies scored in the first inning.
In the fourth, the Pelicans recorded their first baserunners with three hits - the last as a two-run double off of the wall in left by Kevonte Mitchell. They would add two more in the fifth on a two-out rally with Sal Mendez in the game.
The DEWDs' best opportunity was loading the bases with one out in the fourth. Then trailing 4-1, the rally died on a 5-2-3 double play from Melvin Novoa. The Woodies would only manage one more baserunner the entire night and it did not come until the ninth.
Kaleb Fontenot worked two scoreless frames with two strikeouts, and Jacob Lemoine left two runners stranded with a bases loaded 6-3 double play turned by Brendon Davis.
Down East looks to begin salvaging a split on Sunday in game three of the series. Lefty Yohander Méndez gets the nod against Myrtle Beach's Tyson Miller at 4:00 p.m.
