South Bend, Ind.-The South Bend Cubs battled back from a two-run deficit to defeat the Dayton Dragons 5-2 on Friday night. The Cubs have won the first two games of the four-game set.

The Dragons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Taylor Trammell walked to start the inning as he reached base safely in his ninth straight plate appearance. Trammell went from first to third on an error and scored on John Sansone's sacrifice fly to right field.

The Dragons added another run in the fourth when Jose Siri singled to left, went to third on a throwing error, and scored on Trammell's bunt single to make it 2-0.

South Bend battled back to tie the game with two runs in the sixth on a two-out, two-run single by Austin Upshaw. They broke the tie with three runs in the seventh, getting one run on a bases-loaded single by Yeiler Peguero and then adding runs on an error and a wild pitch.

The Dragons did not advance a runner past first base after the sixth inning and had only one runner as far as second base after they scored their final run in the fourth.

Dragons starting pitcher Scott Moss was outstanding over the first five innings before allowing the tying runs in the sixth. Moss left after five and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and two runs with one walk and four strikeouts. He was not involved in the decision. Reliever Moises Nova (0-1) was charged with the first two runs in the seventh and suffered the loss.

The Dragons finished with only four hits. Siri was 2 for 4 with a run scored and his league-leading 35th stolen base of the season. Trammell was 1 for 2 with two walks and an RBI. Trammell reached base in his first two plate appearances of the night and had reached in 10 straight times to the plate (6 for 6 with four walks) before he was retired on a strikeout in the sixth inning.
