Dragons and Vectren Present "Community All-Stars"
The Dayton Dragons "Community All-Stars" program recognizes unsung community members for their good deeds and efforts. This season the Dragons and Vectren will honor individuals who have gone above and beyond to improve the quality of life in the Miami Valley. Throughout the season, 35 "All-Stars"-anyone from firefighters to first responders, non-profit organizations to Good Samaritans-and their families will receive VIP treatment at a Dragons game in recognition of their service.
ALANNA'S STORY
Painting fingernails is a very popular hobby for most young girls. 12-year-old Alanna Wall turned this hobby into a successful non-profit organization with a simple goal of wanting to help others improve their self-perception and quality of life.
At the age of 10, Alanna decided she wanted to do something special for girls with special needs. With the help of her mother, Alanna started Polished Girlz, an organization with a goal of cheering up others by painting their fingernails and teaching them about the importance of hand washing.
As the CEO and co-founder of Polished Girlz, Alanna has touched the lives of hundreds of kids with disabilities or who are getting treatment at Children's Medical Center. The organization continues to grow, now with hundreds of volunteers in a variety of cities across the United States. Alanna has a goal to make a global impact on the spread of germs through proper hand washing and to make people everywhere feel a little more "polished."
For her compassionate spirit and desire to give back each and every day, Alanna has been selected as a Dragons Community All-Star. During an inning break, a tribute video will be played on the videoboard, and she will be presented with a plaque.
