Dayton, Ohio-Adam Dunn, a member of the inaugural Dayton Dragons team in 2000, will become the first Dragons player to be inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall-of-Fame when he is inducted during the weekend of July 21-22, 2018.
Dunn, who played for the Reds from 2001-2008, was the top vote-getter selected by fans, Reds alumni, and select media.
Dunn was the first baserunner in Dragons history when he drew a walk in the top of the first inning in the Dragons first game at Lansing on April 6, 2000. He stole second base in the same inning, notching the first stolen base in Dragons history. Dunn started in left field in the game and drew four walks, still tied for second most in a game in the Dragons now 18-year history.
Dunn was also the starting left fielder in the Dragons first home game, on April 27, 2000 against Cedar Rapids, producing a double and an RBI. In fact, Dunn appeared in the first 45 games in Dragons history.
Dunn played in 122 games for the Dragons in 2000, batting .281 with 16 home runs and 79 RBI. He drew 100 walks, scored 101 runs, and stole 24 bases. His biggest game came on August 8 at South Bend when he drove in seven runs to set a club record that has been matched but never broken.
Less than 11 months after Dunn played his last game with the Dragons in 2000, he made his Major League debut with the Reds, on July 20, 2001. Dunn appeared in over 1,000 games with the Reds and hit at least 40 home runs in five consecutive seasons from 2004-2008.
Dunn retired after the 2014 season with 462 career home runs, which currently ranks 35th in baseball history.
