DAYTON, OHIO-Baseball America, the trade publication for Minor League Baseball, has announced the results of its annual "Best Tools" survey. Midwest League managers voted on the league's best skills in several areas.
Dayton Dragons outfielder Jose Siri was listed as the league's best in two categories. Siri was selected as the MWL's "Fastest Base Runner" and the league's "Best Defensive Outfielder."
Dragons manager Luis Bolivar was named the league's "Best Manager Prospect."
The specific recognition for Siri's speed and defense was particularly noteworthy in light of the fact that he has generated most of his attention this season with his bat. Siri's 39-game hitting streak broke a 40-year-old league record. But Siri also leads the league in stolen bases with 32 and he has played sparkling defense in center field.
Bolivar, a former Dragons player, is in his first year as a manager. He led the Dragons to a first half record of 41-29, qualifying the team for the 2017 Midwest League playoffs.
