The Tulsa Drillers today released the promotional schedule for their 2017 season. Fans have plenty to look forward to as the team has a schedule filled with fantastic fireworks shows, popular promotional giveaways and thrilling theme nights throughout the season. Individual tickets for all 70 home games will go on sale at DrillersFest this Saturday, March 11, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Post-game fireworks will once again follow every Friday night home game this season, along with 6 select Saturday home games. There will also be a Wednesday night fireworks display after the game on July 5 to help celebrate our Military Appreciation Night along with our nation's birthday.
In addition to the displays already mentioned, there will also be a special back-to-back-to-back fireworks show for Labor Day weekend September 1-3 to wrap up the regular season, making for 18 total Fireworks games in 2017.
Fans will not have to wait long for the first giveaway of the year as there will be the annual, pre-game Opening Night Parade on Thursday, April 13, with the first 5,000 fans attending the 2017 home opener receiving a Drillers rally towel.
Following on the heels of the Rally Towel giveaway will be a Drillers Quarter Zip Pullover giveaway on Saturday, April 15 for the first 1,500 fans through the gate.
The Drillers will continue to remember past players who have gone on to success in MLB on Thursday, April 27. Recognizing former Driller and reigning National League Rookie of the Year, Corey Seager, the first 1,000 fans to the game will receive a Seager Go-Green T-shirt.
Complementing the free Seager shirt being given, fans can add to their Drillers apparel collection on Saturday, May 6 as the first 1,500 fans will receive a free Drillers cap!
With the start of summer, the month of June will be filled with numerous giveaways! Former Drillers manager, Bobby Jones, will be on hand for the game on Thursday, June 15 which will be celebrated by giving away 1,000 bobbleheads of the winningest manager in Drillers history.
Two nights later on Saturday, June 17, the 6th annual Mickey Mantle Night will be a game that fans won't want to miss! The Drillers will again honor the iconic, Oklahoma-born Hall-of-Famer by distributing a special edition, 7x World Champion commemorative ring to the first 2,000 fans with a paid admission! Mickey's sons David and Danny Mantle will also be at the park to sign autographs and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Going back to the bobblehead theme, Thursday, June 22 will feature a #StoryTime bobblehead of former Driller Trevor Story who set the National League record for home runs by a rookie shortstop last season with 27 blasts in just 97 games. Fans won't want to miss out on being one of the first 1,000 through the gates to get one of these collectible items!
As the summer begins to wind down and the season comes down the stretch, there will be several giveaways to help with the transition.
The highlight of these will be on Thursday, August 17, when former Driller and 2004 Texas League Pitcher of the Year, Jeff Francis, will be at ONEOK Field for a special appearance as the first 1,000 fans will receive a special Francis replica jersey!
These are just a few of the numerous giveaways scheduled for the year. All giveaway items will only be available for the specified number of fans entering through the Arvest Gate or Oil Derrick Gate. Stay tuned for details on each of the promotional items throughout the season.
THEME NIGHTS, SPECIALTY JERSEYS & POSTGAME CONCERT
As has become a staple in minor league ballparks around the country, there will be several notable theme nights at ONEOK Field this season that fans will want to mark on their calendars!
Autism Awareness Night at the ballpark will get the theme nights started on Saturday, April 29. The Drillers will be wearing specialty jerseys on the field which will be auctioned off during the game with all proceeds going towards the Autism Center of Tulsa.
Later in the summer, the Drillers will wear specialty pink jerseys on Saturday, June 24 to continue to help raise awareness for women in their fight against breast cancer. Those jerseys will also be auctioned off with the proceeds supporting the Oklahoma-based Project 31.
Tulsa Habitat for Humanity will be partnering with the Drillers for the always entertaining Star Wars Night on Friday, August 18 which will also feature a specialty jersey auction of the unique Star Wars-themed jerseys being worn by the Drillers on the field.
The popular Faith and Family Night will be returning on Friday, July 28 where fans will enjoy a beautiful, postgame fireworks show immediately followed by a free concert featuring the nationally recognized band, Citizen Way.
Wrapping up the theme nights will be the annual OKC Thunder Night on Saturday, August 19 and Margaritaville Night on Friday, September 1. The Thunder-themed game will feature a special OKC Thunder Dri-Fit Shirt giveaway for the first 1,500 fans while a beautiful Friday Night Fireworks Display will help fans enjoy a fun ending to their relaxing Margaritaville Night.
DAY GAME ACTION
The always popular Day Baseball action will be returning to ONEOK Field in 2017! There will be six midweek, day games. The dates are April 19 at 12:05 PM and May 1, May 8, May 22 and June 12 at 11:05 AM. The game on April 26 will also have a special Happy Hour start time of 4:05 PM with the first 1,000 fans to receive a Drillers Ozone Alert T-shirt.
Sunday home games will also feature a 1:05 PM start time during the first half of the season before moving to a 7:05 PM evening start time beginning with the Sunday game on July 9.
Returning to the promotions lineup this season are the weekly promotions that have proven very popular, along with a new Monday night promotion to excite our faithful fans!
Each Sunday game, excluding the final Sunday contest on September 3, will be Kids Eat Free Souvenir Sundays where all kids aged 12 or under will get a free hot dog, milk and piece of fruit. The days will also feature a souvenir giveaway to help ensure that the first 500 kids at the ballpark go home happy. These will include a Drillers-themed mini bat, a Drillers team poster, a custom-designed Drillers baseball, Edition 3 of the AWESOME! kids Drillers socks that only the cool kids wear and much, much more!
New to the nightly lineup will be Mega Money Mondays where fans will have the opportunity to win some serious cash all game long! Each inning, fans who sign up to participate will have the chance to win either $1,000 or $10,000 based on specific performance criteria being met by Drillers players on the field. Fans must be 18 or older to sign up to win.
The night of discounts returns to ONEOK Field with nine Tuesday night, $2 Tuesday games, where lawn tickets and selected concession items, such as Dodger Dogs, Mazzio's pizza slices, cotton candy, small ice cream sandwiches, soft drinks and boxes of popcorn are all only $2 each!
Wednesday games with evening start times will continue to be Bark in the Park nights! Fans can bring their canine best friend out for any of the seven scheduled dog nights at ONEOK Field, provided the owners can present documentation that their furry friend has received the necessary vaccinations.
Finally, all Thursday games are Thirsty Thursdays, featuring $1 beers and soft drinks. Eight of these nights will also feature a premium bobblehead, jersey or T-shirt giveaway.
The full promotional calendar will be available on the Drillers website on Saturday, March 11 when individual game tickets go on sale.
