Drive Announce "Just Drive" Campaign

The Greenville Drive today announced its "Just Drive" safe driving campaign dedicated to reminding Greenville County high school students about the dangers of driving while distracted. With the support of the Greenville County School District, the program has been launched at all county high schools and will include a Celebration Game at Fluor Field on April 29th, where students who make the pledge to Just Drive will be the guests of the Drive and receive free admission to the game, admittance to a free VIP pregame picnic and party, and the chance to win prizes and participate in the pregame and between inning activities.

Craig Brown, Drive President and Co-Owner, noted that "Automobile accidents are the number one killer of teenagers across the United States, and the Drive wants to encourage teenagers to focus solely on driving when they are behind the wheel. We are thrilled to work with the Greenville School District and other student advocates across the county to reach high school students with this Just Drive campaign, and look forward to continuing the program going forward."

Michelin, N.A. is the title sponsor of Just Drive and Herb Johnson, Director of Community Relations, commented on the program, stating, "We are excited to be partnered with the Drive to provide young people with a compelling reminder of the dangers of driving while distracted. The Just Drive program is a timely, engaging and memorable way to get this message across."

Members of the Greenville Drive organization have been making presentations, with the help of the Greenville City and County Fire Departments, to high schools and student groups in Greenville County emphasizing the importance of making e the pledge to put their phones away and "Just Drive". Schools visited include Greenville High, J.L. Mann, St. Joseph's and Greer High, with additional visits planned.

Jerry Fountain, Regional President of Verizon Wireless, a Presenting Sponsor of the April 29th Just Drive Celebration Game, commented on the campaign, noting "It's great to see the student leaders from the school's sports teams, community clubs, student councils and others get behind this effort and encourage their classmates to make the pledge! We are delighted to be partnered with the Drive to bring additional attention to this very serious aspect of how young people can enjoy the great technology that is available to them, carefully and safely!"

Wes Bradshaw, General Manager of Bradshaw Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac of Greer, a Presenting Sponsor of the April 29th Just Drive Celebration Game, added, "Far too many people text while they drive. The Greenville Drive have challenged Greenville County high school students to take the pledge to never text and drive and to make it a lifelong commitment. This is a very important and informative initiative that we are excited and proud to be a part of, as we should all pledge to 'Just Drive.'"

Students can make the pledge to Just Drive by "liking" the JustDrive2013 Facebook page, where they will receive driving safety tips, as well as information on the Celebration Game and opportunities to win prizes, including a set of tires from Michelin. Prizes provided by Verizon include Droid DNA mobile phones, Beats by Dre beatspill, Jabra Bluetooth in-car speakerphones, Samsung handheld calculators, and autographed memorabilia by Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams and Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker.

Drive General Manager Mike deMaine commented on the game, saying, "This is a great opportunity for high school students in Greenville County to enjoy a fun-filled evening at Fluor Field, but more importantly, it is a chance for them to make an important decision that could wind up saving their lives, and others.
