Drive, Crawdads Suspended in 3rd Inning

Pat Light exits for Greenville after facing one batter
May 23, 2013

Tonight's game in Hickory between the Greenville Drive and the Hickory Crawdads has been suspended due to rain with the score tied 3-3 in the top of the third inning. The Drive had the bases loaded with two outs in the inning when the rain came. The game will be completed later this season, with a date yet to be determined.

Drive starting pitcher Pat Light left the game after facing just one batter in the bottom of the first inning and was replaced by Yunior Ortega.

The Crawdads took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second, as Joe Maloney popped a three-run homer to center against Ortega.

The Drive fought back to tie the game in the top of the third before the game was suspended. After a two-out single by Bryan Johns, Aneury Tavarez smacked a Tyler Smith offering over the wall in right for a two-run shot. Back-to-back doubles by Cody Koback and Tim Roberson knotted the game up, and after Smith issued a pair of walks to load the bases for Kevin Mager, the rain came and didn't let up.

The road trip continues for the Drive, as they travel to Charleston to take on the division rival RiverDogs in a four-game set beginning Thursday. First pitch is at 7:05. LHP Cody Kukuk (2-5, 5.10) is the projected starter for the Drive, while the RiverDogs will send RHP Vicente Campos (1-1, 3.86) to the mound.
