Greenville, SC - A strong homestand for the Greenville Drive ended with a pair of outstanding pitching performances in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Lexington Legends at Fluor Field, and the win gave the Drive (5-2) victories in both series of Opening Week presented by TD Bank.

Daniel Gonzalez (1-0) shined on the bump in the Drive's victory, as he held the Legends (2-5) hitless over five innings of relief to earn the win. He issued just one walk and struck out four.

Greenville starter Darwinzon Hernandez only worked four innings, but he struck out eight Lexington hitters, two in each inning, while giving up five hits, one run and one walk.

Lexington took a 1-0 lead on an Emmanuel Rivera RBI single in the third, but the Drive scored single runs in the fourth through seventh innings to take the lead and pull away.

Tyler Hill played a key role in the Drive offense, as he was hit by a pitch in the fourth and later scored on an RBI single by Mitchell Gunsolus. In the seventh, he crushed a Garrett Davila offering 404 feet over the Green Monster for his third homer in as many nights.

The Drive took a 2-1 lead in the fifth against Jace Vines (0-2) on a double play, and that lead went to 3-1 when Isaias Lucena drove home a run on a fielder's choice.

Yoan Aybar collected two hits for the Drive on Wednesday night.

From here, Greenville begins its first road trip of the season, starting with a four-game series against the Asheville Tourists, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. Thursday's game in Asheville will begin at 7:05 PM. The pitching matchup will feature Drive right-hander Mike Shawaryn (0-1, 40.50) against Tourists RH Antonio Santos (0-1, 3.00).
