All eyes were on SS Troy Tulowitzki in Dunedin during Tuesday morning's game, but it was another rehabbing major leaguer who stole the show in a 6-1 Blue Jays loss. Charlotte RHP José De León, the #3 overall prospect in the Tampa Bay organization, wowed over five innings in his second outing with Charlotte, allowing no hits over five innings and striking out five Dunedin batters.
Charlotte gave De Leon immediate run support, scoring in the first inning on an RBI groundout by Jake Cronenworth that brought Jake Fraley in from third following his leadoff triple. The 1-0 score held until the fifth when Charlotte scored three more times on four singles, forcing Dunedin starter LHP Angel Perdomo out of the game at the end of the inning. Perdomo finished the afternoon having allowed six hits and four runs over five innings.
The Blue Jays were held hitless until the seventh inning. With one out in the seventh, LF Andrew Guillotte singled up the middle for the team's first hit. CF Lane Thomas followed with a single to right, advancing Guillotte to third. C Mike Reeves knocked in Dunedin's lone run with a sacrifice fly to right.
The Jays offense finished the day with six hits with Guillotte being the only batter with multiple hits. For Guillotte, it was his third straight multi-hit game. Tulowitzki finished 0-2 with a walk, grounding out in the first and striking out in the sixth.
The Blue Jays will return to the field tomorrow evening for game three of their four game series against the Stone Crabs. RHP T.J. Zeuch will be on the mound for Dunedin with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM.
