For the first time this season, the Dunedin Blue Jays scored less than four runs, losing to the Marauders 4-1 on Thursday. The offense matched their season-low in hits with five and committed two errors in the loss as well.

Zach Britton continued his electric start to his professional career after being drafted out of Louisville in the final round of the 2020 draft. Britton had a home run in the 6th inning for his second homer of the season, and the only run scored in the game by the Blue Jays. The Batesville, Indiana native has started his career with a .333 batting average, two home runs, four RBI, and a 1.217 OPS through eight games played. Last night brought his hitting streak to two games, and he has reached base in every game he has played with eight total walks on the season to go along with his nine hits.

Outside of the home run it was only four singles in the total five hits. The offense had two walks with nine strikeouts in the game. Logan Hofmann led the way for the Marauders with three strikeouts. The pitching staff was strong again with a four inning start from Jol Concepcion where he worked around five total walks and three hits to allow only two runs in his outing. Willy Gaston showed his upper 90’s fastball and wipeout slider to the tune of four strikeouts in his two innings pitched. Gabriel Ponce followed suit punching out three in his two innings. Ponce after this outing now has 10 strikeouts across his last five innings pitched. After starting the year with a 60.75 ERA, Ponce has already brought it down to 14.21 bouncing back from a tough start to the year.

Dunedin looks to get back on track to get the series back to an even 2-2 with the first pitch set for 6:30 in Clearwater when Winder Garcia takes the mound for his second start.
