Fort Myers, FL.---Dunedin held scoreless for the first time this season losing 1-0 on a walk-off single in the 9th inning.
A short rain delay in Fort Myers pushed the first pitch back thirty minutes to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night. Once the rain delay ended, Nate Pearson took the mound for the second time this season after picking up his first Minor League win on April 4th in Clearwater. Pearson went just two innings of work giving up no runs and no hits while reaching a new season high pitch speed of 101 mph.
After two hits through the first three innings, Dunedin threatened in the top of the 4th inning beginning with a Christian Williams two-out single. Riley Adams followed up the at-bat with a seven pitch walk to put Williams in scoring position. Ryan Noda came to the plate in similar fashion to the series opener where he drove in the first run of the game; however, tonight Noda was robbed of a possible RBI when left fielder Aaron Whitefield made a sliding catch to end the inning unscathed for the Miracle.
Into the 5th inning with no score for either side, the Blue Jays put the first two runners on with a single from Demi Orimoloye and Kevin Vicuña. Cal Stevenson was able to beat out a double play attempt to put runners at the corners with one out. Logan Warmoth came to the plate putting together a tough at-bat. Unfortunately, the at-bat ended in a double play to get the Miracle's Randy Dobnak out of another jam in back-to-back innings.
The combination of Nate Pearson and Graham Spraker retired the first 14 Miracle batters before second baseman Travis Blackenhorn lined a double over Ryan Noda's head off the left field wall to end Fort Myers' hitting drought. Catcher Ryan Jeffers left the runner at second after lining out to Cal Stevenson to end the inning.
Dunedin had multiple chances throughout the game to push a run across in regulation, but the Blue Jays left 10 runners on base going 0-5 with RISP. The Blue Jays looked to take the game into extra innings bringing Matt Shannon to the mound for the 9th inning. Fort Myers' Royce Lewis reached base on a single to left field and then took second on a passed ball. Jose Miranda loaded the bases with an infield single after Trevor Larnach was intentionally walked. Lewin Diaz pushed across the only run of the game to walk off the Miracle for their third win of the season.
Dunedin looks to get back to their winning ways with first pitch set for 1.00 p.m. tomorrow against Fort Myers. Tomorrow is the third game of the four game series against the Miracle that is currently tied 1-1.
