Dunedin fell behind early in the day surrendering three runs across the first three innings, and the offense mustered just one runner by way of a walk from Davis Schneider. The Blue Jays grabbed a run in the 4th courtesy of a 416-foot solo-home run by Orelvis Martinez that hooked just fair of the foul pole down the left field line, his first of the season. Zach Britton followed with a single to extend his hitting streak to two games, and he added a double later in the game for the only multi-hit day by the Blue Jays. Britton has a .615 OPS, .375 AVG, and a 1.240 OPS to start the season. He has walked four times and struck out just twice in his first three professional games.

Overall, the offense saw five different Blue Jays get hits and three different players drove in runs. Jhon Solarte had his second straight two-RBI day with a single in the 8th inning, before he was thrown out trying to advance to second. Solarte is now second on the team in RBI with four behind Addison Barger (5).

The pitching staff continued to struggle, but the walks were limited as the team went from 10+ the first to games to just five yesterday. The staff also punched out 14 batters with Rafael Monsion leading the way with six strikeouts in 2.2 innings and taking over as the team leader in strikeouts. Monsion’s strikeouts also put him tied for fourth overall in the Low-A Southeast League.

Dunedin looks to get on track tonight with Jol Concepcion on the mound against the Tarpons at 6:30 PM.
