The Dunedin Blue Jays pick up their second win in a row with a 8-6 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle on Wing Night. Despite an early 5-0 decifit within the first 3 innings, the Blue Jays were able to mount a comeback with 11 hits and 8 runs thanks to a 2-run home run by Eduard Pinto and a scoreless relief appearance by Jonny Cheshire where he went 3.0 Innings and struck out 2.
"It makes it easier to pitch when you're surrounded by a great group of guys who play good defence behind you," Cheshire said after the game.
Angel Perdomo struggled for the first time this season, lasting only 4.0 innings and allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits while committing the team's only error.
The Miracle jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, but the Blue Jays were able to answer back scoring 3 in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a 2-run double by Joshua Palacios and a sac fly by Logan Warmoth.
From that point on, the Blue Jays continued to put pressure on the Miracle and had a big 7th inning, taking their first lead of the game with Pinto's 2-run HR. They were also able to add insurance runs with Clemens' RBI triple and a fielding error made by second baseman Blakenhorn which allowed Clemens to score.
Ty Tice made his first appearance in the FSL in the bottom of the 9th allowing him to pick up his first save to cap a 8-6 victory. The win improves the Blue Jays to 13-20 on the season. Blue Jays will continue this 3-game series tomorrow at 6:30 in Dunedin.
