The Bulls, in conjunction with US Foods, are excited to partner with two of Durham's favorite establishments and long-time local sponsors in Pie Pushers and LocoPops to provide meals to the Durham Neighbors Free Lunch Initiative.

As US Foods partners, these sponsors will be able to use their online and phone ordering platforms to receive donations from customers to support the initiative, which provides contactless FREE meals, made with local ingredients, prepared by workers paid a living wage, and given to anyone who needs them, no questions asked.

Operating hours and procedures for both of these establishments have changed in light of the current business restrictions, but they do remain open for online orders and curbside pick-up.

Learn more below about how customers are able to donate.

About LocoPops:

In 2004, LocoPops founder and owner Summer Bicknell traveled to Tlazazalca, Mexico to learn how to make Mexican-style pops, known as paletas. When considering where to open her own business, a stop for gas on a road trip brought her to Durham, North Carolina. Durham felt like home from the start, which has prompted Bicknell to invest heavily in her community.

Many individuals gather at LocoPops for weekly community events hosted at the Dessert Café, including Storytime at LocoPops, Kids Book Exchange, Puzzle Exchange and the Old Time Music Jam. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has impacted the ability of Durhamites to gather at LocoPops. Many of these events are postponed until further notice, but families can still enjoy weekly Storytime through LocoPops Facebook Live.

LocoPops Dessert Café remains open with adjusted hours. Stop by Wednesday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. for pickup and to-go orders at their location on Hillsborough Road in Durham. Order pops, pints, puzzles and more from their online store for pickup and delivery. You can also still find their pops at many retail partners.

The Durham Bulls are proud to partner with LocoPops to offer pops to the Durham Neighbors Free Lunch Initiative. You can add a pop to be donated to your order by clicking here!

About Pie Pushers:

Pie Pushers began as just a food truck back in 2011 and has enjoyed being part of Durham’s food scene ever since. What started as a mobile pizza oven on wheels, pushing pies at local events, school fundraisers and feeding many folks’ close friends and families, turned into a restaurant of its own five years later. In 2016, Mike and Becky Hacker found the perfect space and opened a brick and mortar restaurant in downtown Durham, on Main Street above the Pinhook.

Expanding into more space meant the team of seven quickly grew to a team of 25 pizza-loving Pushers. In 2018, the team grew to almost 30 as they began to push pies inside Durham Bulls Athletic Park and at home games for Duke Athletics. Since the beginning, Pie Pushers has been focused on providing local ingredients to customers by supporting local farmers and artisans.

Due to COVID-19, a lot has changed at Pie Pushers. Down to a crew of just 13, many of the events for the Pie Pushers food truck and sports concessions have dropped off. But you can still find pizza pie for pickup and delivery. The restaurant on Main Street in downtown Durham remains open with temporarily reduced hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. They are taking call-in orders for pick-up, curbside and delivery at 919.294.8408.

For more information on how Pie Pushers has modified operations, including the menu, delivery radius and safety modifications, visit piepushers.com.

The Durham Bulls are proud to partner with Pie Pushers to offer pizzas to our local, frontline healthcare workers. You can add an 8” individual pie for $10 or donate, in increments of $5, toward individual pies for healthcare workers. Call Pie Pushers at 919.294.8408 to place your order for pickup or delivery, and don’t forget to add a donation to help the Durham Neighbors Free Lunch Initiative.
