Banuelos, Jones Shut Down Bulls, 8-0

Lefty Wins 5th Straight Decision; OF Drives In Career-Best 5
June 6, 2015

Lawrenceville, GA --- Manny Banuelos and Kanekoa Texeira combined on a four-hit shutout of Durham, as Gwinnett blanked the Bulls 4-0 on Saturday night.

Banuelos (W, 5-0) worked seven frames, fanning seven en route to his fifth decision without a loss. Everett Teaford (L, 3-5), absorbed the loss, giving up a season-high 12 hits and seven runs over six innings.

Gwinnett (27-27) touched up Teaford in the second on a two-run double by Mycal Jones, who finished with five RBIs. In the third, Jones singled home two more, then added a run-scoring single in the 7th to cap a career-night.

Ryan Lavarnway, whose go-homer on Friday won the series opener in 11 innings, drilled a two-run shot against Teaford in the fifth for a 7-0 lead.

Durham (31-26) never threatened Banuelos across the night, but did miss a chance to score in the eighth with Leonardo Reginatto failed to tag up from third on a Corey Brown flyball down the left field line. Jones made a sliding catch to deny Brown a hit, while Reginatto remained a few feet off of the bag.

Jordan Norberto worked the final 2 1/3 innings, permitting one run to help save the Durham bullpen.

Richie Shaffer reached base three times, with a single and two walks. Reginatto's double in the eighth was the Bulls' only extra-base hit.

The Bulls remain one game behind in the South, with Norfolk falling back into a first-place tie with Charlotte.

The series and road trip concludes Sunday afternoon at 2:05 PM ET with Dylan Floro (5-4, 3.36) opposing Matt Wisler (3-3, 3.58).
