Lawrenceville, GA --- Michael Perez clubbed two homers while Joey Wendle collected three hits as the Durham Bulls beat the Gwinnett Stripers 10-2 at Coolray Field on Sunday afternoon.
Perez and Wendle, both on major league rehab assignments, led the Bulls charge back into the South Division lead. Perez hit a three-run homer during a four-run sixth inning, then took out reliever Wes Parsons in the ninth to the opposite field. Wendle had two singles and a double, stole a base and scored twice.
Brendan McKay (W, 2-0) worked five innings, allowing only a first inning run. McKay was poised to pitch the sixth, but a brief downpour after his warmup pitches ended his day with a 39-minute rain delay.
Jake Faria worked three scoreless innings, fanning five before turning the game over to Tyler Zombro made his Triple-A debut, permitting a bad-hop RBI single in the ninth.
Durham (36-26) won the series 2-1 over the Stripers (35-27), and now heads to Charlotte for just one night against the Knights Monday night at 7:04 PM ET.
