Bulls Even Series With 6-5 Win At Lehigh Valley

Allentown, PA --- A three-run sixth inning snapped a 3-3 tie to lift the Durham Bulls past the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 6-5 on Tuesday night at Coca Cola Park.
With two outs and two on, Adam Moore pulled a run-scoring double to left to bring home Nate Lowe from second base to provide the Bulls (66-52) a 4-3 lead in the sixth. Pinch hitter Micah Johnson followed with a two-run single to left-center for a 6-3 advantage.
Andrew Moore (W, 6-6) allowed a three-run homer in the second inning, but blanked the Iron Pigs (73-48) over the remainder of his outing.
Lehigh Valley scored twice in the eighth against Andrew Kittredge, but Ian Gibaut (S, 10) entered with two outs in the eighth inning and fanned Zach Green to end the inning. Gibaut closed out the 6-5 win by stranding the tying run at second base in the ninth.
Durham took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when a throwing error by Green from third base brought home Kean Wong, who had singled to lead off the game.
Green's homer in the second inning occurred after a pair of one-out walks from Moore, his second in the two games in the series.
Tom Eshelman (L, 2-12) absorbed his league-leading 12th loss, allowing six runs (five earned) over 5 2/3 ininngs.
The rubber game of the series is Wednesday night at 7:05 PM ET with Chih-Wei Hu (3-7, 4.75) opposing Drew Anderson (8-3, 3.95).
