Bulls Fall In Extras To Charlotte 2-1

September 2, 2012
Ft. Mill, SC --- Brandon Short singled home the winning run in the last of the 10th to lead Charlotte past Durham 2-1 on Sunday night.

The Knights downed the Bulls (66-77) for the ninth time in nine games at Knights Stadium this season when Short drove a pitch from Josh Lueke (L, 2-6) over the head of Jesus Feliciano in left-center with two outs in the 10th inning.

The Bulls had tied the game in the seventh on an unearned run that scored on a sac fly by Feliciano.

Durham starter Chris Archer carried a no-hitter through five against the Charlotte offense before surrendering a two-strike single to Carlos Sanchez to start the sixth. A two-out single by Drew Garcia scored Sanchez from second base to give Charlotte a 1-0 lead.

The Bulls tied the game in the seventh against Brazilian right-hander Andre Rienzo. Rienzo, who struck out 10 in his Triple-A debut, permitted a single to Leslie Anderson, then a one-out hit to center by Henry Wrigley. Trayce Thompson overran the Wrigley hit in centerfield, moving runners to second and third. Feliciano delivered the game-tying sacrifice fly to make it 1-1.

In the 10th, the Bulls filled the bases against Anthony Carter with two outs before Anderson drove a liner to deep left field to end the inning.

The Bulls close out the regular season on Monday afternoon at 2:15 PM ET. Lance Pendleton starts the finale for Durham.
