Bulls first baseman Jonathan Aranda and second baseman Miles Mastrobuoni each smashed three hits, while right fielder Josh Lowe homered in Durham’s 8-3 victory over the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday evening at Harbor Park. With the win, the Bulls maintain their lead in the International League East Division.

After Norfolk plated a single tally in the second, the Bulls answered with a three-spot in the subsequent frame. Aranda ripped a game-tying double to the right-center field wall before coming across on C Rene Pinto’s go-ahead single to center, while Mastrobuoni’s run-scoring single capped the frame. Durham would add three more scores in the fourth, starting with Aranda’s second RBI double in as many innings, before coming across when Lowe left the yard with a two-run blast.

SS Vidal Brujan in the fifth, meanwhile, would bring a run home with an infield single to make it 7-1 before an additional Bulls run came across in the seventh. Norfolk would then plate a pair of runs in the last of the seventh to narrow their deficit to 8-3.

Aranda (3-4, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI) and Mastrobuoni (3-3, R, RBI, BB) each tallied a game-high three hits, with Lowe (2-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) and Pinto (2-4, R, RBI) adding multi-hit efforts of their own as well. CF Manuel Margot reached base twice, including a hit, with Durham as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment, while DH Wander Franco drew a walk.

Eight Bulls pitchers joined forces to yield four hits, with Ralph Garza Jr. (1.2 IP, H, 2 SO) earning the victory. Norfolk starter Chris Vallimont (4.0 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO) suffered the defeat.

The two teams are set to continue their series on Wednesday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm ET in Norfolk. RHP Taj Bradley is anticipated to get the nod for the Bulls and be opposed by LHP Bruce Zimmermann.

The Bulls return home to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, August 23 to start a six-game set versus the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch of the series opener is slated for 6:35pm.
