Bulls Thump Charlotte, 10-8

Durham Goes Back-To-Back Twice; Wins Series, 2-1
July 9, 2015

Charlotte, NC --- Richie Shaffer homered twice, while JP Arencibia and Corey Brown each hit their league-leading 15th homers to power Durham past Charlotte 10-8 at BB&T Ballpark on Thursday night.

Tied 1-1 in the sixth, Shaffer and Brown connected against starter Shawn Haviland (L, 4-5) for a 3-1 lead. In the seventh, after a would-be third out was lost in the twilight sky by centerfielder Trayce Thompson, instead falling for a two-run double by Taylor Motter, Arencibia and Shaffter followed with back-to-back clouts to push the Bulls lead to 8-1.

Bradin Hagens (W, 1-0) worked six innings of one-run ball to earn his first Durham (46-41) win.

With the victory, the Bulls closed to within four games of South leading Norfolk.

Durham returns home on Friday in the opener of three against Gwinnett at 7:05 PM ET.
