Louisville, KY --- Mike Brosseau drove in four, with Kean Wong collecting three hits and scoring four times to lead Durham to a 9-2 win over the Louisville Bats to begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday night at Slugger Field.
Durham (7-10) scored twice in the first and second inning against Bats (8-11) for an early 4-0 lead. In the first, Wong singled home Jake Cronenworth, who had walked and advanced to second on an errant pickoff throw by starter Vladimir Gutierrez (L, 1-1). Brosseau followed with a single to left to score Wong.
In the second, Wong doubled home Emilio Bonifácio, who had doubled on his 34th birthday. Nate Lowe later delivered a deep sacrifice fly to center as the Bulls went ahead 4-0.
Casey Sadler permitted just one run over his 3 2/3 inning start. Sadler fanned six and a run in the third inning.
Hoby Milner worked 1 1/3 innings, with Andrew Kittredge yielding a run in his two-plus. Oliver Drake (W, 1-1) was credited with the win by working the final two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
After Christian Arroyo doubled home Wong in the fifth to make it 5-1, Brosseau tripled to right in the seventh to score Wong with another run.
In the ninth, the Bulls put the game away with three runs against reliever Jesús Reyes. Nate Lowe grounded a double inside the right field line to score Bonifacio, with Brosseau drilling a two-run single to center to cap the scoring.
Wong finished 3-4 with a double, two RBI and four runs scored. Brosseau was 3-5 with a triple and four RBI. Bonifacio was 2-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base. Lowe drove in a pair thanks to a 1-3 evening.
The three-game series continues on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM.
