Durham Victorious Behind Brown's Blast Off Bull

May 26, 2015

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls won their fifth straight game Tuesday night at the DBAP, defeating the Rochester Red Wings 2-1 behind a seventh-inning, solo homer off the bat of Corey Brown.

Tied 1-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, Brown blasted a 3-2 pitch off the Snorting Bull sign in leftfield leading off the inning to give Durham a 2-1 advantage. Southpaw Andy Oliver retired the side in order in the eighth, and Ronald Belisario earned his 10th save of the season by allowing just one walk in the ninth.

Rochester (25-21) opened the scoring in the third inning when the rehabbing Oswaldo Arcia hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield. The Bulls (26-22) countered in the fifth frame, when Brown walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second on an errant pickoff play. Three batters later Taylor Motter delivered a game-tying double down the leftfield line, extending his hitting streak to eight games.

Right-hander Dylan Floro (4-4) earned the win, tossing seven innings and allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out a season-high seven batters. Reliever Caleb Thielbar (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing Brown's homer in the seventh frame.

The Bulls go for the series sweep Wednesday at 1 p.m., when Durham sends LHP Everett Teaford (3-3, 5.50) to the hill opposite LHP Taylor Rogers (3-3, 3.44) for Rochester.
