Syracuse Drubs Durham, 12-1

10-Run First Inning Dismantles Bulls

Syracuse, NY --- Syracuse scored 10 runs in the first inning and coasted to a 12-1 victory over the Durham Bulls on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

The Chiefs sent 14 hitters to the plate against Durham starter Jacob Faria (L, 1-1). The first seven reached in the inning, which saw Faria throw 42 pitches and get knocked out after just 2/3 of an inning. Christopher Bostick singled home the inning's first run, then Matt den Dekker drilled a grand slam to right, his second grand slam against the Bulls (40-54) in the last two weeks. By the time the dust settled, the Chiefs had eight hits, drew two walks and saw two more runs score on a pair of errors.

By the time Durham got on the board on a Jake Hager double in the seventh inning, the Bulls were down 12-0.

Johnny Field doubled twice for the Bulls, who had nine hits in the contest.

Despite the loss, the Bulls remain three games behind South-leading Charlotte.

After dropping the first two games of the series, Durham will try to claim the third game of the series on Saturday night. Justin Marks will oppose AJ Cole at 7:05 PM ET.
