Torres, Vogt Champion Bulls Win; Beat Red Wings 8-2

June 19, 2012
Rochester, NY --- Alex Torres pitched five sterling innings, allowing one hit en route to his first win since April 11th as the Durham Bulls won their second straight game, defeating Rochester 8-2 at Frontier Field on Tuesday night.

Torres (W, 2-3), who was originally scheduled to start Wednesday, slid forward a day after Chris Archer was recalled by Tampa Bay earlier on Tuesday. Torres allowed two of his three baserunners in the game in the first inning, using a double play to help usher him through the opening frame. From there, Torres retired 12 of the last 13 batters he faced.

The Bulls (32-41) jumped on a Red Wing starter early in the game for the second straight game. Brandon Allen singled home a first-inning run, followed by a two-run double by Stephen Vogt, the first of his four hits in the game.

Durham added three more in the fourth inning against Luke French, with a run-scoring double by Chris Gimenez and a solo homer to center by Vogt highlighting the frame, which knocked French out of the game after just 3 1/3 innings.

Reid Brignac drilled a two-run homer in the fifth to give the Bulls an 8-0 lead.

Jhonny Nunez lost the shutout bid in the seventh, yielding a two-run homer to Wilkin Ramirez.

Bryan Augenstein and Dane DeLaRosa worked an inning apiece to close out the game. Allen went 3-5, with Shawn O'Malley going 2-4 with an RBI.

The Bulls had 14 hits, and have combined for 30 in the first two games of the series.

Shane Dyer starts the third game of the series on Wednesday night against Cole DeVries at 7:05 PM ET.
