Offense Stays Hot; Bulls Pound Bisons Again 12-6

July 1, 2012
Buffalo, NY --- The Durham Bulls pounded Buffalo for the second time in a row 12-6 at Coca Cola Field on Sunday afternoon, remaining unbeaten against the Bisons this season.

The Bulls (40-45) spotted the Bisons a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but the game pivoted for the Bulls when with runners at second and third with one out, Josh Rodriguez lined to left field, which Leslie Anderson caught. Matt Tuiasosopo tagged and tried to score, but Anderson one-hopped the throw to the plate and Stephen Vogt tagged out Tuiasosopo, who collided with the Bulls catcher. Vogt walked slowly with some assistance to the dugout as the inning ended with just one Buffalo run. Vogt was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the third inning.

The Bulls then waited out Jeurys Familia (L, 5-5) over his 3 1/3 inning start, issuing three walks, allowing five hits and a couple of big Durham innings. The Bulls scored four in the third to assume a 4-1 lead on RBI singles by Tim Beckham and Henry Wrigley. The Bulls capitalized on a throwing error by Jordany Valdespin to bring in two more runs.

In the fourth, the Bulls mounted another eight-hitter attack, scoring three and chasing Familia from the game. Jesus Feliciano singled in a run and Beckham had a two-run hit to right-center for a 7-1 lead.

Durham effectively put the game away with five runs in the fifth, capped by a two-run single by Cole Figueroa. The Bulls batted around in the fifth, and sent 25 hitters to the plate in the third through fifth innings.

Matt Torra (W, 7-6) worked six innings, littering 10 hits to win his staff-leading seventh game.

Chris Archer starts Monday night at 7:05 PM ET for the Bulls in the third game of the series against Buffalo.
