Bulls Remain Perfect Vs. Buffalo, Win 3-2

July 2, 2012
Buffalo, NY --- Three sacrifice flies and five Durham pitchers combined on a three-hitter as the Bulls won their seventh straight over Buffalo 3-2 on Monday night.

Chris Archer (W, 5-8) worked five innings, fanning seven and pitching around four walks to win his return start to Triple-A. Four Bulls relievers combined to shutout the Bisons offense the rest of the game, limiting them to one hit the rest of the way.

Trailing 1-0 after an inning, the Bulls (41-45) tied the game on a sacrifice fly by Shawn O'Malley in the second inning.

After a single put the Bisons ahead 2-1 in the fourth, the Bulls scored twice in the fifth for the lead. Cole Figueroa singled to lead off the inning on an 0-2 pitch, then Rich Thompson bunted his way on. A walk followed to load the bases before consecutive sacrifice flies by Jesus Feliciano and Chris Gimenez as the Bulls took a 3-2 advantage.

Cesar Ramos, Frank DeLosSantos and Brandon Gomes pitched one scoreless inning apiece as the Bulls carried a 3-2 lead to the last of the ninth.

Dane DeLaRosa (S, 9) walked Raul Reyes on four pitches to start the frame, then inexplicably, Reyes attempted a delayed steal and was thrown out at second base. With two outs, Rob Johnson clocked a pitch to the gap in left center that Thompson caught on the dead run to end the game.

The Bulls are now 7-0 against Buffalo with one game left in the season series. The Bulls also picked up another game on first place Charlotte, moving to within seven games after the Knights' extra inning loss to Gwinnett.

Lance Pendleton starts for the Bulls in the finale Tuesday night at 6:05 PM ET.
