Norfolk, VA --- Luis Exposito drilled a game-winning homer with two outs in the 12th inning to lift Norfolk to a 7-6 win over the Durham Bulls at Harbor Park on Monday night.
With two outs in the last of the 12th, Exposito deposited Romulo Sanchez's first pitch over the left field bullpen to lift the Tides to their second straight win in the series.
The Bulls (51-60) took a 4-0 in the second inning against Brian Matusz. With one out, the Bulls strung together five straight singles two score a pair of runs, then an error by Robert Andino committed an error to make it a four-run frame.
The Tides countered with five in the last of the second against Lance Pendleton, highlighted by a three-run triple by Xavier Avery.
The starters settled down until the seventh inning when the Bulls reclaimed their second lead of the game. Cole Figueroa singled, Rich Thompson bunted his way on to put runners at first and second. Tim Beckham bunted to the mound, with relief pitcher Greg Burke fielding and throwing late to third base to fill the bases. Evan Longoria followed with a bloop single to center to tie game. Henry Wrigley followed with a fielder's choice grounder to give the Bulls a 6-5 lead.
In the last of the seventh, Ryan Reid relieved Pendleton and allowed a leadoff single and a walk. A wild pitch followed before Reid induced a liner to short right field for the first out. Adam Liberatore relieved Reid and surrendered a sac fly to Joe Mahoney to tie the game 6-6. Dane DeLaRosa relieved to strike out Bill Hall to end the inning.
DeLaRosa worked two more innings, followed by Brandon Gomes tossing two scoreless.
Will Rhymes and Cole Figueroa each had three hits to lead the Bulls.
The Bulls close out their road trip on Tuesday night with Cesar Ramos opposing Dana Eveland at 7:15 PM ET.
