Figueroa Leads Bulls Past Braves; Durham Wins 86th

August 29, 2013

Lawrenceville, GA --- Cole Figueroa tripled in three runs in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie, leading the Durham Bulls past Gwinnett 7-6 at Coolray Field on Thursday night.

After three walks from Mark Lamm (L, 3-3) loaded the bases, Figueroa drooped a triple inside the left field line against lefty Ryan Buchter to put the Bulls (86-53) ahead 7-4.

Kirby Yates (S, 19) struggled to close out the Bulls' baseball-leading 86th win, allowing two runs, but rose to the challenge by whiffing Ernesto Mejia and Brandon Boggs with the tying and winning runs aboard.

The Bulls drew seven walks in the game from four Gwinnett (57-83) pitchers, with all seven scoring.

Matt Moore started for Durham on a major league rehab for Tampa Bay. Moore worked four innings on 74 pitches, allowing eight hits and four runs. Moore, who is 14-3 for the Rays and last pitched in the majors on July 28th, is expected to return to Tampa's rotation on Tuesday at the Los Angeles Angels.

Shelley Duncan earned his first triple since August 18th, 2009 against Lehigh Valley, snaking a hit into the right field corner against starter Omar Poveda. Duncan drove in two runs.

Adam Liberatore (W, 5-3) notched the victory with two scoreless innings in relief of Moore.

Luke Scott was 1-4 with a walk and a run in his second MLB rehab game for Tampa Bay.

The Bulls will try to sweep the Braves in the third and final game of the series on Friday night. Mike Montgomery (7-7, 4.60) starts against Kameron Loe (4-4, 3.28) at 7:05 PM ET.
