Bulls right fielder Josh Lowe launched a three-run home run and reached base four times, third baseman Vidal Brujan and Jonathan Aranda recorded two hits each and starting pitcher Tommy Romero fired five scoreless frames in Durham’s 5-4 victory over the Buffalo Bisons on Thursday night at Sahlen Field.

After CF Ryan Boldt bashed an RBI double to center in the first, Lowe extended the lead to four with his three-run blast to right-center in the third. Buffalo would even the score with a four-run seventh, yet Durham would answer and grab the lead for good thanks to C Ford Proctor’s go-ahead RBI single in the eighth.

Brujan (2-4, R, 2 2B, BB) and Aranda (2-5, R, 2B) led the way for the Bulls with their multi-hit efforts, while Lowe reached base four times thanks to three walks in addition to his longball. After totaling four hits in game one of last night’s twinbill in Buffalo, Aranda has recorded six hits in 12 at-bats thus far in the series.

Romero yielded three hits and did not allow a walk in his five shutout innings of work, though he did not factor in the final decisions. Durham lefty Ben Bowden (0.2 IP, H, 2 BB) earned the victory, while right-hander Dusten Knight (2.0 IP, H, 2 K) notched his team-leading third save. Bisons righty Graham Spraker (1.0 IP, H, R, ER, 2 BB, K) suffered the defeat.

The two teams are set to face off again on Friday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:05pm. RHP Miller Hogan is anticipated to get the nod for the Bulls, with the Bisons slated to send RHP Shaun Anderson to the hill.

Following their six-game road series in Buffalo, the Bulls return to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, May 10 to begin a six-game set versus the Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A affiliate Gwinnett Stripers. First pitch of that series opener is scheduled for 6:35pm.
