3,173 See Tri-City Fall On Fireworks Night

Vancouver does all the damage in first four innings
August 31, 2013

3,173 fans looked on as the Tri-City Dust Devils fell to the Vancouver Canadians on Fireworks Night by a final score of 4-2 Saturday night at Gesa Stadium.

Dust Devils relief pitcher Troy Neiman pitched two innings on the night, allowing no hits. In the sixth inning Neiman struck out four batters after Canadians catcher Michael Reeves reached first base on a wild pitch on strike three. He finished with six strikeouts on the night.

Dust Devils (14-22 Second Half, 33-41 Overall) right fielder Julian Yan got his 11th hit in his last eight games and drove in a run in the fourth inning. Shortstop Alec Mehrten, the Papa John's Hit Man of the game, went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Since he recorded a hit everyone can head to papajohns.com and type in promo code "dustdevils" where you can buy any pizza and receive a second pizza of equal or lesser value for free. This promo code is valid tomorrow only, Sunday, September 1, at all Tri-City locations.

Tri-City right-hander Antonio Senzatela (2-4) never really found his groove after a long layoff between starts. Senzatela gave up four runs, three of them earned, on eight hits in five innings of work. He also struck out a batter and took the loss.

Canadians (16-20, 38-36) starter Colton Turner (4-5) found himself in trouble with runners on the corners with one out in the fourth inning, but was able to escape the inning having allowed only one run. He finished his night allowing two runs on five hits through six innings. He struck out two and walked one in a winning effort.

The second game of this final three game series between the Dust Devils and Canadians will be Sunday Night at Gesa Stadium. It will be Russell Wilson Poster Giveaway Night at the ballpark, presented by the Tri-City Herald. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will get a Russell Wilson poster. Righty Johendi Jiminian will get the start for Tri-City, and right-hander Alonzo Gonzalez will toe the rubber for Vancouver, with first pitch at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available by visiting www.dustdevilsbaseball.com or calling the front office at (509) 544-8789.
