Canadians Keep Dust Devils Scoreless

September 4, 2016

A tough night at the plate led to the 8-0 loss for the Tri-City Dust Devils (13-23, 32-42) at the hands of the Vancouver Canadians (113-21, 29-43) in front of 3,119 fans on Saturday night at Gesa Stadium. The Canadians jumped out to an early lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Vancouver scored two runs in the first inning off of Tri-City starter Will Headean. In his five innings of work Headean allowed three runs to the Canadians. The biggest missed opportunity for the Dust Devils came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Tri-City loaded the bases with no outs, but Vancouver escaped the jam with no damage done.

The game slipped away from the Dust Devils in the seventh inning. Reliever Nick Monroe allowed four runs without getting an out, allowing Vancouver to take a seven-run lead. Manny DeLeon had the best night on offense for Tri-City, collecting two of the team's four hits.

Right-hander Hansel Rodriguez will start the middle game of the three-game series on Sunday night. Vancouver will counter with right-hander Dalton Rodriguez. It will be Baseball Card Giveaway Night presented by North Wind. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
