An early deficit proved to be too much for the Tri-City Dust Devils (13-10) to overcome Friday night as the team lost to the Eugene Emeralds 5-2. Tyler Benson had three hits in the loss for Tri-City, continuing his hot stretch since making his debut with the team on Thursday.
The Dust Devils scored both of their runs in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Bryant Aragon delivered a single that scored Luis Almanzar and Tre Carter. Tri-City had a great opportunity to cut into Eugene's one-run lead in the seventh inning, but the Dust Devils came away empty-handed after the first two batters reached safely. The Emeralds added two more runs on to their lead in the bottom of the seventh, which put the game out of reach for Tri-City.
The Dust Devils will send right-hander Dauris Valdez to the mound on Saturday night. Tri-City will face Eugene right-hander Yapson Gomez in the middle game of the five-game series. The team will return to Gesa Stadium on July 12th for Thunder Alley Motorsports Night presented by Thunder Alley Motorsports. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
