Costly Mistakes Derail Tri-City

August 27, 2017

[Empty Body]

The Tri-City Dust Devils (18-14, 38-32) suffered a 7-3 loss at the hands of the Hillsboro Hops on Sunday at Ron Tonkin Field. Despite finishing the night with two more hits than Hillsboro, the Dust Devils never led in the game.
Only three of the seven runs scored by Hillsboro were earned. Two costly errors by Tri-City, committed by Matt Batten and Luis Almanzar, allowed the Hops to widen their advantage in the second and eighth innings. At the plate Robbie Podorsky again delivered for the Dust Devils. For the second straight game the team's leadoff hitter produced three hits. Dalton Erb was strong in relief for Tri-City, tossing three scoreless frames.
Right-hander Henry Henry will start the middle game of the five-game road series for the Dust Devils on Sunday afternoon. Hillsboro will counter with right-hander Tyler Keele. Tri-City will return home on September 1st to begin a three-game series against the Vancouver Canadians, which will be the final series of the regular season. September 1st will be a $1 Family Feast Night presented by CO-Energy and WSU Cougar Night at Gesa Stadium.
