Dust Devils Kept Quiet at the Plate

By Tri-City Dust Devils | July 14, 2017 1:37 AM ET

The Tri-City Dust Devils (14-14) were limited to just one hit on Thursday night at Gesa Stadium as the team lost to the Everett AquaSox 5-1. Luis Asuncion ended Everett's no-hit bid in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-out double.

The AquaSox jumped out to an early lead on the Dust Devils in the first inning. Tri-City start Ben Sheckler surrendered four hits and allowed four runs to Everett right out of the gate. The Dust Devils did not have an answer for AquaSox starter Andres Torres. The hurler tossed six scoreless and hitless innings. The only two base runners that Torres allowed were off of a pair of walks. Tri-City scored their lone run in the seventh inning shortly after Asuncion's double, which extended his hit streak to 11 games. The next batter Tre Carter got to second on an error from Onil Pena that allowed Asuncion to score the team's only run.

The series will conclude on Friday night. Right-hander Henry Henry will toe the rubber for the Dust Devils. Everett will counter with right-hander Jose Santiago. It will be Scout Night sponsored by Big 5 Sporting Goods and also a $1 Family Feast Night presented by CO-Energy. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
