Dust Devils Shut Down in Series Finale

August 31, 2017

[Empty Body]

The Tri-City Dust Devils (20-15, 40-33) were held without a run on Wednesday night as the team lost 2-0 to the Hillsboro Hops at Ron Tonkin Field. Tri-City starting pitcher Tom Cosgrove suffered the tough-luck loss after allowing only one run in six innings.
At the plate the Dust Devils had two prime chances to strike, but could not deliver either time. Jalen Washington failed to capitalize with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning. Washington struck out swinging to end the threat. Tri-City started a two-out rallying the top of the ninth inning. Tre Carter and Luis Asuncion each had base hits, but Matt Batten went down swinging for the final out of the game. The loss to Hillsboro combined with Spokane's win on Wednesday night sends Dust Devils into the final three days of the season one game out of first place in the Northwest League's North Division behind the Indians.
Tri-City will return home Friday to begin a three-game series against the Vancouver Canadians, which will be the final series of the regular season. Friday will be a $1 Family Feast Night presented by CO-Energy and WSU Cougar Night at Gesa Stadium. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
