Every Tri-City Dust Devils hitter in the starting lineup had a hit and a sellout crowd of 3,708 enjoyed fireworks both on and off the field as the Dust Devils walloped the Boise Hawks 11-0 at Gesa Stadium Saturday night.
Starter Konner Wade (1-7) put in his best performance as a Dust Devil for his first professional win. Wade pitched five magnificent innings, allowing just three hits. The Hawks struggled mightily to hit the ball out of the infield while Wade was in the game. He finished his night with four strikeouts and two walks.
Dust Devils (8-14 Second Half, 27-34) middle infielders Patrick Valaika and Alec Mehrten both went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Center fielder Kyle Von Tungeln and left fielder Michael Tauchman tacked on two RBIs apiece.
Dust Devils first baseman Sean Dwyer, the Papa John's Hit Man of the game, went 1-for-3. Since he recorded a hit everyone can head to papajohns.com and type in promo code "dustdevils" where you can buy any pizza and receive a second pizza of equal or lesser value for free. This promo code is valid tomorrow only, Sunday, August 18th, at all Tri-City locations.
Hawks (14-9, 35-26) starting pitcher Michael Wagner (0-2) got hit early and often. Wagner gave up at least a hit in each of his three innings. He allowed three runs on six hits. He also walked two and struck out a batter in the loss.
The third game of the five game series between the Dust Devils and Hawks is Sunday night at Gesa Stadium. It will be Veteran's Night at the ballpark. Tri-City will send 18-year-old right-hander Antonio Senzatela to the mound, and fellow righty Paul Blackburn will pitch for the Hawks, with first pitch at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available by visiting www.dustdevilsbaseball.com or calling the front office at (509) 544-8789.
