The Tri-City Dust Devils (13-9) came away with the 4-3 win over the Eugene Emeralds on Thursday night. Tyler Benson delivered at the plate for the Dust Devils, collecting two hits and scoring two runs in his Tri-City debut.
Luis Almanzar broke a tie game in the seventh inning with his clutch two-out single that scored Benson. The bullpen was a bright spot for the Dust Devils in the win. Reliever Fred Schlichtholz and Austin Smith combined to keep Eugene scoreless over the final four innings of the game. Schlichtholz earned his second win of the season while Smith slammed the door shut on the Emeralds for his second save.
Right-hander Henry Henry will start the second game of the five-game series on Friday night.
