Behind six hits from Robbie Podorsky the Tri-City Dust Devils (16-14) beat the Boise Hawks 8-7 on the road Saturday night in extra innings. Podorsky is the first player in the Northwest League this season to have six hits in a game.
The game was a roller coaster ride for both teams. The Dust Devils feel behind early after starting pitcher Dauris Valdez allowed two runs in his only inning of work. Tri-City would catch on fire at the plate, erasing Boise's early lead by scoring seven unanswered runs. The Hawks found a way to overcome the team's lead, scoring three runs in the sixth inning and two more in the eighth to tie the game. After going to extra innings, it was the sixth hit of the game from Pordorsky that drove in what became the game's winning run.
Right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez will start the second game of the five-game series on Sunday night. Boise will counter with right-hander Ryan Luna. Fans can listen to all of the action on Newstalk 870 KFLD, at www.dustdevilsbaseball.com, or on smartphones or tablets through the free TuenIn app. First pitch for all five road games against the Hawks will be at 6:15 p.m. The team will return to Gesa Stadium to begin an eight-game homestand starting on July 20th, which will be Special Jersey Auction Night presented by Les Schwab. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
