Rockies Second Round Pick Arrives in Tri-City

Four other 2014 draft picks join Dust Devils

The Colorado Rockies' second round pick from the 2014 MLB First Year Player Draft, Ryan Castellani, has been assigned to the Tri-City Dust Devils. Castellani is a right-handed pitcher who hails from Phoenix, AZ, and played baseball for Brophy College Preparatory. He led Brophy Prep with 23 strikeouts and 22 innings pitched. Castellani was named a 2013 Under Armour All-American and a 2014 Perfect Game All-American.

2014 Rockies draft picks Andrew Rohrbach, Dylan Criag, Jerry Vasto and Jordan Parris have also joined the Dust Devils.

Rohrbach went 7-2 with a 2.05 ERA this year for Long Beach State. He led Long Beach State with three complete games, 69 strikeouts and 109 2/3 innings pitched. Rohrbach was converted to pitcher from shortstop in 2014. He was selected in the 9th round of this year's draft.

Craig is a left-handed pitcher who was picked in the 12th round from Illinois State University. He led Illinois State with 98 strikeouts. Craig had a 6-2 record with a 2.14 ERA in 92 2/3 innings pitched this season.

Vasto is a left-handed pitcher from Felician College. He led all Felician starters this season with a 1.68 ERA. He struck out 79 batters in just 68 1/3 innings pitched. He finished the season with a 6-3 record with 12 starts, 15 total appearances, a save and a complete game. He is a 24th round pick from the 2014 draft.

Parris is a catcher who was picked in the 20th round this year. He played two seasons at Tennessee Tech.

The Rockies have sent outfielder Wilson Soriano and infielder Renaldo Jenkins to the Grand Junction Rockies of the Pioneer league. Outfielder Jose Monzon has been released by the Rockies.

The Dust Devils open the season in Boise Friday night at 6:15 p.m. Pacific time and can be heard on 870 KFLD with the voice of the Dust Devils, Chris King. The first game to be played at Gesa Stadium will be on Wednesday, June 18th at 7:15 p.m. against the Everett AquaSox. All fans in attendance will receive a 2014 Dust Devils schedule magnet courtesy of Pizza Hut, and there will be postgame fireworks presented by CO-Energy immediately following the game.
