Tri-City Falls In Pitchers' Duel

Two-run eighth inning does in Dust Devils

The Tri-City Dust Devils held the lead for most of the night, but they were unable to hold off the Vancouver Canadians as they lost the middle game of the three game series 2-1 in front of 2.635 fans on Sunday Night at Gesa Stadium.

Tri-City (14-23 Second Half, 33-42 Overall) right-hander Ryan Warner was fantastic again for the Dust Devils. He pitched five one-hit innings and held the Canadians scoreless and left the game with a 1-0 lead. He also struck out one and walked two on the night. 

Dust Devils designated hitter Wilfredo Rodriguez, the Papa John's Hit Man of the game, went 2-for-3. Vancouver (17-20, 39-36) starter Alonzo Gonzalez pitched 5 1/3 innings and only allowed one run on six hits. He walked two and struck out five. He got a no-decision for his efforts.

Johendi Jiminian (3-5) took the loss for the Dust Devils. He pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on five hits. He walked two and had two strikeouts.

Drew Permison (1-0) earned the win for Vancouver. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and gave up just one hit in his outing. He struck out a batter as well.

With the win Vancouver clinched the second postseason berth for the Northwest League's North Division. They will take on the Everett AquaSox in the first round of the playoffs.

The final game of the Dust Devils season will be Monday night at Gesa Stadium. They will take on the Canadians for the final game of the three game series. There will be a postgame fireworks show presented by the Army National Guard It will also be Coca-Cola Monday at the ballpark, with all 22 ounce Coca-Cola products on sale for $1. Right-hander Konner Wade will get the nod for Tri-City.
