Mullins and Adams Win Weekly Awards

PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of April 6th through April 16th.

Bowie Baysox outfielder Cedric Mullins has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 6th-April 16th. The 22-year old hit .455 (20-for-44) with five doubles, one triple, three home runs, 15 runs scored, eight RBIs, three stolen bases, three walks and an .818 slugging percentage in 10 games for the Baysox. Mullins, who is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, had at least one hit in all 10 of the games he played in for the Baysox and had multiple hits in six of those games, including kicking off his season by going 4-for-5 with a triple, a home run, two RBIs and four runs scored in Bowie's 13-7 opening day victory at Akron. The 5'8", 175 lb. slugger currently leads the league in runs scored (15), hits (20), extra-base hits (9), and total bases (36), and is tied for the league lead in triples (1). He is also ranked among the league leaders in slugging percentage (.818-2nd), OPS (1.308-2nd), batting average (.455-tied 2nd), doubles (5-3rd), home runs (3-tied 3rd), stolen bases (3-tied 5th), on-base percentage (.489-7th), and RBIs (8-tied 7th). Cedric, who is currently rated by MLB.com as the 19th best prospect in the Baltimore organization, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 13th round of the 2015 draft after batting .340 as a junior at Campbell University.

Chance Adams, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Trenton Thunder, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 6th-April 16th. The 6'1", 210 lb. hurler has started two games for the Thunder this season and has a record of 2-0 with 13 strikeouts and a 0.79 ERA. Adams, who is a native of Scottsdale, Arizona, was the Opening Day starter for the Thunder and did not allow a hit over 5.2 shutout innings in Trenton's 6-2 victory at Erie. He struck out five batters and walked four while earning his first win of the season. Chance made his second appearance of the week in Trenton's home opener on Thursday against the Portland Sea Dogs and earned his second win of the season in Trenton's 6-4 win. Adams gave up three runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out eight batters and walking two over 5.2 innings of work. The 22-year old is currently tied for the league lead in wins (2) and is also ranked among the league leaders in batting average against (.103-2nd), ERA (0.79-3rd), WHIP (0.88-3rd), strikeouts (13-tied 5th), and innings pitched (11.1-tied 5th). Chance, who is rated by MLB.com as the eighth best prospect in the Yankees organization, was selected by the New York Yankees in the fifth round of the 2015 draft out of Dallas Baptist University.
