Chihuahuas Break El Paso's Minor League Attendance Record

EL PASO - July 13, 2014 - As of last night's game, the El Paso Chihuahuas set a new single-season attendance record for Minor League Baseball in El Paso, as 334,978 guests have come through the Southwest University Park gates since the historic April 28th opening. The feat surpasses the previous record of 329,233 for a full season set in 1995 by the Diablos while at Cohen Stadium.

"The response of the El Paso region to Triple-A Baseball, and the Chihuahuas and Southwest University Park experience has been absolutely amazing," said Alan Ledford, MountainStar Sports President. "Our organization is very proud of this accomplishment and owe thanks to every sector of this incredibly supportive community."

Including Opening Night, the Chihuahuas sold out 31 of 41 games with 26 home games remaining. The largest crowd of 10,135 was recorded on July 3.

"The community has embraced the brand, the ballpark and the experience," said General Manager Brad Taylor. "We are so appreciative of our fans and their support and will continue to work hard to create a fun and safe atmosphere for our guests for decades to come."

Following tonight's game, the Chihuahuas return home on Monday, July 21, 2014 to open an eight-game homestand.

Fans can buy tickets at EPChihuahuas.com or in person at the Durango or Santa Fe Box Offices. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays 10- a.m.-4 p.m.
