The El Paso Chihuahuas collected a season-high 19 hits in their 14-3 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Wednesday night at Southwest University Park. The teams have split the first two games of the series. El Paso pitching held the Dodgers to only three hits.

Chihuahuas pitcher Pedro Avila had to throw only 70 pitches in his six-inning start, allowing only one earned run. Relievers Reiss Knehr, Dinelson Lamet, Tyler Higgins and Travis Bergen all tossed scoreless outings for El Paso. Chihuahuas first baseman Taylor Kohlwey went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs. Kohlwey is now tied for first in the Pacific Coast League in doubles with 18.

El Paso second baseman Robinson Canó went 3-for-6 with an RBI double and has a 14-game hitting streak. The Chihuahuas’ 761 hits lead all of professional baseball. Wednesday’s win snapped El Paso’s three-game losing streak.
